HISTORY

                                  Venmony Grama Seva Samithi Ambikodyam Higher Secondary School situated at Nediyavila is an integral part of Kunnathoor a village of Kollam District. The school was founded under the management of "Venmony Grama Seva Samithi", a trust with members of Brahmin Community. The school is playing a vital role in the educational, social, economical, cultural, and spiritual development of Nediyavila. In 1962, the school started as an Upper Primary School. In 1976, the school was upgraded as High School and in 2000 it became a Higher Secondary School. Most of the students studied here are from the weaker sections of the society. Around 13000 students have studied in the school during these fifty years.

                               Venmony Grama Seva Samithi is a trust registered in 1962. It consists of a group of Malayalee Brahmins belonging to 'Venmony Gramam' which mainly spreads in Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alapuzha Districts. The founder President was Sri. B.B Pandarathil Ex. MLA. He took the initiative to start a new school with the help of Sri. K.B. Pandarathil, and Ex. Minister Sri K. Damodaran Potti. The land for the school was given by the branches of Mudappilappilli Madom, a family in Venmony Gramam. The foundation stone was laid by Brahma Sri. Devaru Sreedhararu on 16-09-1962. The School name was suggested by Late Sri. Vasudeva Bhattathiri in the name of 'AMBIKA', the GODDESS of Nediyavila Temple. Sri. B.B. Pandarathil Ex. MLA became the founder Manger of the school. Sri. J. Kesavaru Bhattathiri was the first Headmaster of the School till 1992.

                                         The School is managed by the Executive Committee of the Venamoni Grama Seva Samithi. The Manager of the school is Sri. K.S. Vasudeva Sarma, who has taken the charge from 1980 to till date. He is a famous Social Worker, and retired Law Lecturer from NSS College Pandalam. Now he is acting as the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. Ommen Chandy. He served as the Chairperson for various Boards and Corporations His inspirations always lead us to our success.
